Privacy policy — Hospitality Ops Intel

What we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are.

What we collect

When you visit Hospitality Ops Intel, the publication collects standard web analytics: the page you requested, the page that referred you to us, the general region your IP address resolves to (city or metro level), the browser and operating system you are using, and the time of the request. We also collect a hashed device fingerprint that lets us tell returning visitors apart from new ones without requiring you to log in or create an account.

We do not collect names, email addresses, or other directly identifying information unless you voluntarily provide them — for instance, by writing to one of the editorial addresses on the contact page or subscribing to a future newsletter.

Why we collect it

Analytics data is used to understand which articles are useful and which need work. It is also used to calibrate an internal classification model that helps us understand visitor intent — a research function operated by Dark Knight Project LLC, the publication's parent organization. The classification model does not produce decisions about you; it produces aggregate analytics about the readership.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a session cookie to maintain a visit-level identifier and a longer-lived first-party cookie to recognize returning visitors across sessions. We do not set third-party advertising cookies. We do not share data with advertising networks.

Your rights

If you would like to know what data the publication holds about you, request its deletion, or opt out of the analytics described above, write to privacy@hospitalityopsintel.com. Requests are handled within 30 days.

Visitors located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and California have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act respectively. The publication honors those rights regardless of where it is headquartered.
